Press release - March 2011 - 01-03-2011
Glycode strengthens its management team and enriches its patent portfolio in the field of glycosciences.
After a first financing round of €3 Million completed by the end of 2009, Glycode finalized in 2010 the latest developments of its GlycodExpressTM technology. This patented technology is dedicated to yeast glycoengineering, for the production of homogeneous human glycoproteins in eukaryotic cells.
Glycode announced today the strengthening of its management team, with Christophe Javaud, co-founder of the company, being promoted as Chairman and CEO. In addition, the company announced the appointment of Isabelle Cuoc as Business Development Director, and Frédéric Varnat, PhD, as R&D Director. Both of them bring more than 10 years of experience.
“We aim at setting up our commercial expertise, in connection with our highly qualified scientific team” said Dr. Javaud, CEO of Glycode. ”We have established our first proof of concept and expect to build our first major partnerships in the next 18 months”.
The company also values its technical achievements by securing its intellectual property with three patents filed about the GlycodExpressTM Technology and its optimization named YAC-ExpressTM, which allows a one-step insertion of a complete metabolic pathway in a yeast strain without any alteration of the genome.
“Building new IP is a key to our next developments. Given the most recent developments in our field, our company is well positioned both in Europe and in the US” added Dr. Javaud. “We believe our knowhow and assets will allow us to become the future world leader in the field of yeast-based technologies dedicated to the production of homogeneous humanized glycoproteins”.
Glycode joins the Lyonbiopole Business Center 15-09-2010
Glycode joins Lyonbiopole
Since the beginning of september, Glycode has an office located in the premises of Lyonbiopôle, dedicated to developing its business activities. Thus, making the most of a dynamic worldwide competitive cluster, Glycode becomes more visible for partners and closer to major european capitals.

New projects 03-09-2010
Glycams Project
In collaboration with Ducares BV (Netherlands)
Microdosing allows pharmacokinetic studies on human therapeutic compounds without risks of side effects, offering the opportunity to diminish preclinical studies on animals.
The association between Ducares BV and Glycode SAS will help develop an analytical platform for the optimization of glycosylation profiles of therapeutic proteins in an early stage of the drug development process.
The pharmayeast project

In Collaboration with Insilico Biotechnology
The project consists in identifying target genes in order to obtain yeast strains optimized for the production of Therapeutic Proteins through the study of metabolic networks predicted by genome analysis.
InSilico Biotechnology and its network reconstruction platform will use modeling tools on the strains developed and owned by Glycode.
By combining the distributions of flux with changes in metabolites, the editable targets are identified.
Genetic engineering deduced from these tests will be implemented and verified by experimental methods in the Glycode Lab.
Glycode, innovative start-up 2009 01-06-2009
June 2009 - Glycode named by “Usine Nouvelle” for the price of innovative start-up 2009, in "Industrial Processes" category, and classified in the final top among 24 innovative French companies.
